This is a new (and hopefully) re-occurring post on this blog about what's going on in your neighborhood right now. I'll feature different neighborhoods weekly - a little community service, if you will. Definitely check out the Events Page as well - and suggest your own events for us to add!
So what better place to start than the Back Bay? It's not because I'm biased(!), but my office is just right here and figured it would be a great place to start...so...shall we?
A Bronx Tale
Like the movie? I know I do! Well, now see the play. Straight from Broadway, Chazz Palmentieri will come to Boston's Colonial Theater starting March 31st to put on his one man show version of A Bronx Tale. Palmentieri plays a total of 18 characters himself to critical acclaim, portraying Cologio's story all over again. Don't miss it! More info at: Colonial Theatre or Tickemaster
Speaking of food....ok well, we weren't really talking about food, but since I love a good restaurant:
A Foie Gras Feast
Well, the economy's in shambles but at least we can still enjoy foie gras. We still can, right?? Well, at least at Sel de La Terre we can. As part of their Sunday Night Dinner Series, they are holding a Foie Gras Fest in the downstairs bar and lounge this Sunday (March 8) at 7pm. And at only $35 per person, it won't break the bank to indulge in little luxury....
The Parish Cafe has been getting some pretty solid reviews on Yelp lately (like us!), plus I love the place - so go visit. If you are new to this whole "Parish Cafe" thing (meaning you've been living in a cave, apparently!), basically a bunch of famous local chefs were asked to create a signature sandwich for the Parish Cafe menu. Each sandwich is named for the chef and the restaurant they are from. Amazing food (sandwiches that make Joey Tribbiani's obsession look pathetic!!). Great atmosphere. Plus a full bar and serving food until 1am (a rarity around these parts). What more can you ask for? Have your own look: http://www.parishcafe.com/
All things chocolate? Ummm...count me in! "The One & Only Boston Chocolate Tour" takes place each Saturday until April 25. A three-hour narrated tour on chocolate, including chocolate trivia and fun facts. Tour stops at Top of the Hub restaurant, Omni Parker House Hotel, and Langham Boston Hotel. Sample chocolate cakes, cookies, pies, and other sweet treats. (Click here for more details).
Okay, enough food for now....
The Central Library in Copley Square features film nights. Whether you're into the classics...aka Fred, Ginger, Bogart, Hepburn OR you're more into that whole minimalistic and artsy take on film, you can check out the community cinema film series...the Central Library has many options for everyone, not just in film, but books too (I suppose that's obvious though)! (Click here to see events going on at the Central Library)
Cardboard as Art?
Weird. But somehow cool. The Judi Rotenberg Gallery on Newbury Street is hosting a show called 'Danica Phelps: Nesting and Karin Weiner: Paper Trail v. 4' The exhibit will be showing March 5-29. You'll getto see interesting art like:
