Check out this chart I created for Back Bay condo prices (for the 02116 zip code) displaying median price on the left axis (black line) and median price per square foot on the right axis (orange line) for condos.  Both display data for the past year so you can see the price trend over that period and both use 90 day rolling averages so the data takes the past 90 days of sales data at any given point in time to produce the median price and price per square foot.  The 90 day rolling average smooths out some of the volatility so trends are more readily apparent.

The data comes from my pals at Altos Research, a California based real estate research firm, who I have a partnership with for the data.  They offer great data (as you can see!), updated weekly or "real time" as they like to say, broken down by zip code.  The reports really hit the trifecta - frequently updated, accurate, LOCAL data.  I have been mainly using the data for internal purposes as of late, but now I want to offer it out to our clients and readers here.  I can easily produce weekly reports for you that I can email or just check back in here when I post the updates.  The reports really hit the trifecta - frequently updated, accurate, LOCAL data.  Contact me if you would like to get the reports by email.
