The Globe magazine just put together an article on the top 12 areas to live in MA right now.
Wenham beat Jamaica Plain (#2) for the top spot. As a resident of JP, I do appreciate the area being noted as the #2 place to live in the state; however I still feel JP is the best.
Jamaica Plain has a plethora of public parks, spectacular real estate (renovated historic Victorian homes, for instance), as well as an assortment of delicious ethnic restaurants. JP offers a variety of affordable homes to multi-million dollar estates and is in close proximity to downtown Boston.
Also worth mentioning, the lovely Cambridge came in at #3. No surprise there. And downtown Boston (Beacon Hill, Back Bay, and South End) took the #8 spot. As the article says about the downtown areas, “If you can afford it, what’s not to love.” One surprise was that Brookline was all the way at #10. I know a lot of people who feel passionately about that town. Newton, a Boston suburb that is used to special accolades, did not make the cut.
