Once again, Improv Asylum is teaming up with Globe Santa to bring smiles to children's faces. Starting at 7pm on Friday, December 4th, Improv Asylum will be hosting No Rest for the Wicked Funny a 24-hour performance event benefiting Globe Santa. Globe Santa provides gifts to needy children for the holidays (http://bostonglobe.com/santasearch/default.asp). The performance will include eight actors who will perform for a full twenty-four hours as well as local celebrities and bands. This is their 5th year hosting this event.
Improv Asylum is a nationally renowned comedy theater located in Boston's Historical North End. In the 11 years they have been open, they have performed over 5,000 shows for over 500,000 people around the country for corporations, colleges and festivals, in addition to their home performances at their theater here in Boston. The event runs from 7 pm - 7 pm from December 4th - 5th and has no overhead (it is a completely volunteer event and every aspect of it is donated). 100% of the proceeds are donated directly to Globe Santa!
Your $10 ticket allows you to come and go as many times as you would like throughout the event. To purchase your tickets, call Improv Asylum's box office at 617.263.NUTS (6887).
Local celebrities and business folk even attend the event to donate an hour of their time. When they get to the event they are invited on stage and either asked a few questions or have them tell an anecdote or two (something funny that's happened to them or something about their job, etc.). Then the cast performs some scenes based off of whatever they just talked about. That happens 2-3 times within the hour. This year's event will take place from 7pm on Friday, December 4th through 7pm on Saturday, December 5th.
Improv Asylum has helped educational institutions meet the cultural needs of students and youth organizations by offering discount performances for field trips and benefit performances for educational and organizational fund raising. They have performed at many local schools as well as at their own theater in the middle of the night for after-prom or graduation school-sponsored all-night events.
Last year, No Rest for the Wicked Funny had a record year, raising over $17,000! This year they are hoping to raise over $20,000......head down and support a great cause!
