Moving On: 4 Ways to Make Your Next Move Easier

[This is a guest post.]

Even the idea of moving can cause people enormous stress. There are some definitive ways to make sure you’re minimizing your stress as well as confusion during the planning and moving process.

Plan and Budget

Before starting your home search, you’ll need to have an idea of your finances as well as amenities and important details that are deal breakers for your move. You’ll be less stressed about a move if you know that you’re able to afford the move and the mortgage each month on the new home. When you plan down to the last detail, there won’t be surprises for you to worry about after making your decision. These details impinge onto the smallest of the details; like the size of the furniture, the distance between the houses, etc. If you were to happen to have big furniture and delicate instruments, like a piano, which require meticulous efforts while moving, you would have to hire man with a van  movers.

Realtor Consultation

It’s vital that you talk with your realtor about your finances, wants and needs before they start looking for the right home for you. Professionals, like Reece Nichols from Roger Deines Real Estate Group, know that you should be as detailed as possible when it comes to moving, but you’ll also need to be flexible on some points. If you don’t have the budget for a pool, you can’t expect to have a pool in your next home.

Mark and Catalog Boxes

On your first night in the new home, there’s no way you’ll be able to unpack everything to figure out what you’ll need and what you don’t. Marking and cataloging each box will make your life easier. When you number the boxes, you’ll know whether one was left behind immediately. Items that needed to be taken apart to put in boxes should have the screws and bolts inside a plastic bag on the outside of the box. This will keep them from getting lost.

Unpacking

You don’t want to pack everything in boxes for the move. Keep things you’ll need with you in an overnight bag like shampoo, soap and a change of clothing. When you get to the new home, unpack the shower boxes and the bedding because you’ll need those immediately. You’ll likely want a shower after moving all day, and you’ll need bedding to sleep on that first night.

Before planning your move, make sure you’re talking to your realtor about exactly what you can afford in a new home. You don’t want to be stressed about payments before you’ve even unpacked your boxes. It’s vital that you’re realistic with your budget constraints. You’ll need to be smart about how you move too. Make sure that your boxes are marked and cataloged for the move. It’ll make the process run smoother.
