We hear a lot of “strategies” and ideas about buying a home from our clients. Many of these stem from television or stories from parents or peers when they purchased their home. While both of these can be great sources of information, both can be less than correct in the advice they give. It is important to remember that every market is different and that situations change based on a variety of factors such as inventory, interest rates, etc. You should work with your buyer’s agent to understand the market and create a plan that makes sense for you as you navigate the home buying process.
So what is the number one myth we hear about buying a home?
“If a listing/property has been sitting on the market for awhile there must be something wrong with it”
Simply not true. There are a ton of reasons that a property may be on the market longer than others around it. You need to consider what is the perfect place for you and your family and make decisions based on that. Consider what you think a property is worth (with your real estate agent) and make a decision that is good for you!
