New 60-Story Back Bay Tower To Be Tallest Yet

Written by Michael DiMella | Jun 19, 2014 4:00:00 AM

Last week, the Boston Globe reported that the Four Seasons will manage a new residential building that will be on the Christian Science campus in Back Bay. The project, once completed, will be the largest residential tower in Boston. (even taller than Millennium Tower!) Standing at almost 700 feet high, the building will rock the Boston skyline and offer uber-luxury condominiums and commercial spaces. As it is slated now, there will be 180 condos on the top floors and hotel rooms below them.

The project will make Boston one of only a few cities with two Four Seasons hotels. The others include London, Shanghai, Instanbul, Los Angeles, and Chicago, and soon-to-be New York. “This is designed to be a landmark building,” said Richard L. Friedman, chief executive of Carpenter & Co. “It’s going to be very prominent on the skyline, and it also has a strong connection to the local street grid.” Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2017 with the very highest level of finishes and amenities.
