A Look @ Google’s New Time Machine

Have you ever found yourself left out of a conversation on new developments in Boston? Are you the kind of person that needs to see pictures to really understand a space? If you know your way around the city, it is hard to miss all the new projects. But if you are relatively new to the city it may be hard to visualize what a neighborhood might have looked like before that new condo project went up. This was all prior to Google’s best new toy:

You can look as far back as 2007 with Google street view and see just how much the cityscape has changed over the course of just seven years. The results illustrate just how fast the real estate market is changing. Take for example Dudley Square in Roxbury:

Now watch the skyline along the seaport boulevard as it transforms:

Now try it in your neighborhood. It’s hard not to notice how many single tenant industrial and commercial buildings have been torn down and turned into condos. Here are two spots around the corner from my apartment in Somerville:
