2014 Boston Real Estate “Resolutions” for You

Written by Michael DiMella | Dec 30, 2013 5:00:00 AM

It is that time of year again. When people make resolutions to hit the gym, stop smoking, drink less, and stop all those other “vices.” At Charlesgate, we can’t help you stop smoking, but we can give you a few ideas for New Year’s resolutions that will help you be “real estate smart” in 2014.

1. Get Pre-approved

One of the first things you will want to attach to any offer to purchase in real estate is a pre-approval letter. By connecting with your bank or one of our preferred mortgage professionals, you can answer a few simple questions that can get you this document. This is also a great idea to figure out how much home you can afford.

2. Have Your Thumb on the Market

With information so easily available and rates so low, the market will continue to be fast paced in Boston in 2014. Make sure you are getting the most current listings that match your criteria by signing up for Daily Listing Alerts. And, put yourself ahead of the curve by signing up to view Off Market Listings which are not even on the open market!

3. Selling? Finish Those Projects

Finish those items that are preventing you from putting your home on the market! Want an idea of value? Contact one of our agents to get a Home Valuation Report. This is a great snap shot of the market, what has sold, and what you can expect when you put your own home on the market.

4. Have Some Pizza (at one of our Home Buyer Classes)

Well, if you gave up pizza, just come listen to some great information for FREE at our next home buyer class. Meredith Kiep will be discussing the entire home buying process, negotiation tips, mortgages, etc. What a great, easy way to get started!
