Weekly Feature: Millennium Tower
Where Is It?
Located in Downtown Crossing, the 625 foot tower just had its groundbreaking this past week! The new address of the building will be 426 Washington Street.
Downtown Boston is located on a peninsula that juts into Inner Boston Harbor, with the Charles River beginning at the North End. This area is primarily commercial and retail with few residential buildings. There are some beautiful apartment buildings with occasional turnover. Just minutes from the Common, Beacon Hill, and Faneuil Hall, the convenience can’t be beat. Also, in this area is the colorful Chinatown community with it’s pagoda telephone kiosks and trademark Chinese Gate. Downtown has just completed the final stages of a massive change known as the Big Dig. It is the largest municipal project in the country’s history where the above-ground highway, I-93, was rebuilt underneath the city, thus opening up a new space, The Greenway. This has added retail and office space and making the city that much more beautiful.

Why Do We Love It?
Wow! That is the best word to describe this gigantic project which will feature the distinction of being the third tallest building in Boston! The location will feature almost 500 lucury condos ranging from 1 to 4 bedrooms as well as over 200,000 square feet of retail. Roche Brothers has already said they will move into the building upon completion – how sweet is that? Take a look at their website for all the glimmering pictures and details.
What Is Around It?
Downtown Crossing has not seen a lot of condo development over the past few years – set to change with this influx of almost 500 new units! A great neighborhood with lots of businesses and places to eat, you are sure to see more springing up around this new development.
