froston"Join fellow locals this April to help raise money for the One Fund during the Froston Marathon on April 19th from 12pm – 10pm!  ALL proceeds will be donated to the victims of last year’s tragedy.

Participating Faneuil Hall area bars include: Frost Ice Bar, Mija, Central Wharf Co., Sterling's, the Black Rose, Battery Park, Warehouse, Coogans and Stadium.

Bacardi is an event sponsor and will featuring two specialty cocktails; 'The Rum Runner to Remember' and 'Hearts of Gold.' Bacardi will also be donating $10 to The One Fund for every case of Bacardi purchased by Boston area bars between March and April in Boston.

Raffle items will also be featured and are from The New England Aquarium, Blue Man Group, Boston Harbor Cruises, Improv Asylum, Boston Duck Tours, The Museum of Science, Kings Boston, Citi Performing Arts Center, Union Oyster house...and many more! All raffle proceeds go to The One Fund. Raffle tickets may be purchase for $1 each!"

“Hop Into Spring Weekend” at Faneuil Hall Marketplace

EasterFaneuil Hall Marketplace will be hosting a 'Hop into Spring Weekend' on Saturday, April 19th and Sunday, April 20th.

The 'Hop Into Spring Weekend' will be "a series of free outdoor events on Saturday April 19 -20. The weekend will kick off with an Easter egg hunt on Saturday at 10 am, followed by a concert featuring Reverse Order and The Sugarbabies Band at noon.

Reverse Order will honor the marathon with their song 'Our City,' and a Boston Marathon inspired exhibit will be open all weekend at Best of Boston located in the North Market building."

'Bled for Boston' at the BCAE

Chris Padgett wanted to give back to the city after the Boston Marathon bombings in a unique way. His project, 'Bled for Boston', showcases tattoos from individuals who love this city and emphasize it in ink. The exhibit is featured at the Boston Center for Adult Education in Back Bay

"Chris says, 'Bostonians everywhere showed their support for the city after the bombings. Many tattoo shops in Massachusetts stepped up and offered Boston-themed tattoos, donating their profits to The One Fund Boston. I wanted to capture the people that dedicated permanent space on their bodies as memorials to their city, first responders and the people who lost their lives at the Marathon.'"

National Eggs Benedict Day At South Street Diner

"Eggs benedict originated in 1894 after Wall Street Broker Lemuel Benedict ordered 'buttered toast, poached eggs, crisp bacon, and a hooker of Hollandaise' at the Waldorf Hotel. The dish was then modified to its traditional version and named after Lemuel, thus creating the classic American breakfast dish."

'A Sip in the Park' Fundraiser at Fenway

The event will be "special evening with tasting options, great food and entertainment in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Boston Chapter.

Explore silent and live auction items including theater tickets, exotic getaways, restaurant gift certificates and more!

Proceeds from 'A Sip in the Park' will go to support AFSP Boston's programs across Eastern Massachusetts raising awareness and reducing the stigma surrounding suicide and mental illness, as well as bringing outreach and support to survivors."

Marathon Monday in Boston

boston marathonThe 2014 Boston Marathon is almost here! The Boston Marathon will be held on Monday, April 21st and will start at 8:50pm. 

The legendary course will start in Hopkinton and end at the finish line in Copley Square, Boston. This year's race will be truly an inspiration and emotional race due to the events from last year's race.

"The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world's most prestigious road racing events. The Boston Athletic Association manages this American classic, which is sponsored by John Hancock Financial Services. The Boston Marathon has distinguished itself as the pinnacle event within the sport of road racing by virtue of its traditions, longevity and method of gaining entry into the race (via qualification)."

In addition to the race, the Red Sox will have their annual Marathon Monday home game at Fenway against the Orioles, which will bring a substantial amount of visitors and excitement to the Boston area.

'Boston Strong Shop On' Event

The members of the Back Bay community would like to "celebrate the strength of Boston with an opportunity to visit the heart of Back Bay and give to those affected by this tragedy.

'Black Mass' Movie Casting Call

black massThe 'Black Mass' film will be having casting calls on April 12th & 13th from 1-6pm in Dorchester.

The 'Black Mass' film is based on the story of Whitey Bulger, one of Boston's most notorious mobsters, and his ties to the FBI.

The casting calls will be held at the Boston Teacher's Union at 180 Mount Vernon St. Background extras and speaking rolls are needed for this film.

'Black Mass' will be filmed between May 19th until August 1st.

"Dear Boston" Exhibit at the Boston Public Library

boston strongShortly after the Boston Marathon bombings, a makeshift memorial started to take shape in Back Bay.

Now, almost a year later, the Boston Public Library are displaying the array of notes, shoes and other items in the "Dear Boston" Exhibit at the McKim Exhibition Hall in Copley Square.

"Each of the objects left at the memorial, whether giant banner or tiny scrap of paper, store-bought or handmade, was a message of love and support for grieving families and a grieving city. They were hope in material form, symbolizing the human desire to help, comfort, connect, and sustain when confronted with great tragedy."
