Celebrate Flag Day in Quincy

quincySpend a day in historic Quincy and check out the Flag Day festivities on Saturday, June 14th! 

"Each year on the Saturday closest to Flag Day the City of Quincy pays tribute to Old Glory with the Quincy Flag Day Parade & Celebration.

Started over 60 years ago by Koch Club founder, the late Richard J. Koch, the Quincy Flag Day parade is the longest-running parade of its kind in the nation.

The celebration portion of the evening held at Pageant Field following the parade consists of a flag raising of an impressive 30' x 60' version of Old Glory, a fly-over, a patriotic medley, presentation of awards to the parade grand marshal and the recipient of the Richard J. Koch Youth Service award capped off by a dazzling 30 minute fireworks display over Black's Creek."

According to the representative from the Quincy Park & Forestry Department, the fireworks display will start around 9:00pm.

Health & Fitness Expo at Hynes

hynes conventionThe Health & Fitness Expo will be coming to the Hynes Convention Center on June 13th & 14th. There is an estimated 60,000 people who attend the event every year to learn more about their health and well being. 

This event is free to the public and features free health screenings, exhibition booths with local area doctors and fitness trainers, a kids center and more!

There will even be celebrity appearances from the New England Patriots Cheerleaders, James Massone from The Voice, Olympian Aly Raisman, Vince Wilfolk from the Patriots and more! Demonstrations will also be held throughout the expo for healthy cooking and exercise.

Race Amity Day at the Rose Kennedy Greenway

"The festival, which runs from 1 to 5 p.m., is free, and the public is invited. Among other attractions, it includes live music, an arts tent, free face painting and an appearance by Curious George for children. Food will be sold from some of Boston’s most popular food trucks. A game tent will offer bid whist, dominoes and mahjong. Other tents will feature information about local colleges, community services and health and wellness."

Celebrate World Oceans Day at Central Wharf

The event by the Central Wharf will have free "hands-on activities for kids, cooking demonstrations and lots to learn about ocean animals. There is plenty for the entire family to learn and do!" 

The event will take place on the Aquarium's Front Plaza and in the Harbor View Terrace Tent, rain or shine.

Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl
