Posted by Hillary Waldron on Fri, Aug 22, 2014

gilletteReady for football? What better way to enjoy the start of the season then going to a fantastic local college game.

Boston College will be playing UMass Football at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Saturday, August 30th at 3:00pm.

"Speaking at UMass football media day Wednesday, coach Mark Whipple – who hasn't shied away from the importance of the matchup since being hired in January – called the game the 'biggest home opener we've ever had in the history of UMass.'"

Even though Gillette Stadium has seating for over 60,000, because of the anticipation of this game and the football season, tickets are selling out quickly.

Go Hiking near Boston

Posted by Hillary Waldron on Wed, Aug 20, 2014

outdoorsAlthough there may only be a handful of beach days left, there is plenty of time to enjoy the outdoors before it starts to snow.

A great way to spend a nice day in New England is to check out a hiking trail and Massachusetts offers some great trails for those just looking for a day trip in the area.

Here are a few suggestions.

Blue Hills Reservation
Milton
Located only minutes from the bustle of downtown Boston, the DCR Blue Hills Reservation stretches over 7,000 acres from Quincy to Dedham, Milton to Randolph, providing a green oasis in an urban environment. Rising above the horizon, Great Blue Hill reaches a height of 635 feet, the highest of the 22 hills in the Blue Hills chain. From the rocky summit visitors can see over the entire metropolitan area. With its scenic views, varied terrain and 125 miles of trails, the Blue Hills Reservation offers year-round enjoyment for the outdoor enthusiast.

East Middlesex Fells Reservation
Malden
Something like five miles northerly from Boston lies a great tract of country, all stony hills and table-lands, almost uninhabited, and of wonderful picturesqueness, and wild rugged beauty.- Sylvester Baxter, Boston Herald Supplement, December 6, 1879.

Hazel Brook Conservation
Wayland
Hazel Brook Conservation Area (48.4 acres) rewards your senses almost immediately by the sound of the rushing waters of Hazel Brook, soon followed by the sight of a beautiful pond.

Don't stop there, for a moderately easy hike uphill through the quiet woods leads you to a network of more than 65 miles of trails through Weston Town Forest and other public land. A figure-eight route through the property takes about one hour, plus any additional time you choose to devote to Weston town trails beyond.

Revisit Your Favorite 'Good Will Hunting' Spots

Posted by Hillary Waldron on Wed, Aug 13, 2014

boston commonRobin William's passing devastated all of us. "Known for his preternatural performance agility, lightning-fast impressions and malleable voice, Robin Williams was a versatile actor beloved by several generations."

Boston was fortunate enough to experience Robin in one of his finest roles in 'Good Will Hunting'. And if you want to take a trip down memory lane, you don't have to go far to relive some of your favorite and most iconic scenes in the movie.

The Boston Common, Boston
The infamous bench in 'Good Will Hunting' has been turned into a memorial by Bostonians. "It was on that bench that Williams sat with Damon and described to him what love and loss truly mean, and that it can’t be comprehended by reading books, or examining human nature from an outsider’s perspective.

Harvard Square, Cambridge
Harvard Square is the site of Au Bon Pain, 27 Brattle Street, where Will Hunting tries to explain his gift to Skylar, and also the now closed Tasty Café, where the two share a very messy pickle."

The L Street Tavern, South Boston
Although Robin Williams never actually shot a scene in the bar, the L Street Tavern in South Boston still became a landmark for its role in Good Will Hunting. "At the L Street Tavern, there's no shortage of Robin Williams memorabilia. He was already a big star when he was in town shooting the movie, but never acted like a big shot."

Robin Williams was loved by many and will never be forgotten. The memorial placed in the Boston Common has received much admiration through social media and can be visited by fans at any time.
