Dewey Square Mural Unveiling Party

Posted by Hillary Waldron on Tue, Sep 23, 2014

muralWalking by the Rose Kennedy Greenway today after work? Well check out the Dewey Square Mural Unveiling Party from 5:00pm-7:00pm.

"Beneath the 70-by-76-foot mural will be live music courtesy of both Boston-based Debo Band and East Boston's cultural organization Zumix.

Artists for Humanity, a locally-formed organization that empowers youth to engage in the arts and also helps to land them employment opportunities, will host a number of interactive installations for everyone to embrace. BostInno reached out to Artists for Humanity to find out what they have in store, but they told us their programming is contingent on an imminent meeting with Smith in order to better reflect her work."

This event is free. Food and drinks available for visitors. Check out the new mural and enjoy a beautiful fall night by the Waterfront before heading home! Click here for more info!

arnoldarboretumFall is a wonderful season in New England. There are plenty of farms for families & friends to check out and a lot of beautiful scenic trails for walking and hiking.

One of the best displays of foliage in the Boston area is at the Arnold Arboretum. Located in the neighborhoods of Jamaica Plain and Roslindale, the Arnold Arboretum is a horticulture sanctuary with a wide variety of plants, wildlife and trails.

"Established in 1872 and planned and designed in collaboration with Frederick Law Olmsted, the Arnold Arboretum is a National Historic Landmark and one of the best preserved of Olmsted’s landscapes.

Occupying 281 acres, the Arboretum’s living collection of trees, shrubs, and woody vines is recognized as one of the most comprehensive and best documented of its kind in the world."

'What is Fluff' Festival in Somerville

Posted by Hillary Waldron on Fri, Sep 19, 2014

fluffboyFluff is a staple ingredient in Massachusetts and it's not surprising this tasty treat has its own festival on Saturday, September 27th in Somerville.

The festival, titled 'What the Fluff: A Tribute to Union Square Invention', attracted numerous marshmallow Fluff fans every year.

The  main ingredient for fluff was invented in Somerville by Archibald Query in 1917.  The fluffernutter (a sandwich with fluff & peanut butter), has actually become so popular, it is going through the approval process of becoming the state sandwich

There will be games, performers, cooking contests and so much more this year!

Enjoy Suffolk Downs One Last Time

Posted by Hillary Waldron on Tue, Sep 16, 2014

suffolkAs some of you know, Mohegan Sun and Suffolk Downs lost the casino vote to the Wynn and shortly after the announcement, Suffolk Down released a statement that they will be closing.

Now personally, I've never been to Suffolk Downs, but I still consider the Suffolk Downs an landmark establishment in East Boston and will be sad to see this place go.

According to the Suffolk Downs website, there are still races scheduled until the end of September every Monday, Wednesday & Saturday. Check out all the fun and excitment of the track with your friends and family before the gates close for good!

Suffolk Downs opened its facility over 75 years ago and is/was the last thoroughbred track in New England.
