Best of the OIA Film Festival at the ICA

ottawaThe ICA in Boston will be screening the best of the 2013 Ottawa International Animation Festival on Saturday, January 18th and Sunday, January 19th. 

"An 85-minute program shown in Beta SP features selections from Japan, Germany, Switzerland, France, Canada, Norway, and elsewhere. Titles include 'Plug & Play,' 'Wind,' 'Bless You,' 'Lonely Bones,' and 'But Milk Is Important.'

Founded in 1976, the Ottawa International Animation Festival, held each fall, is North America’s largest celebration of animation in all forms. This traveling program includes highlights from the 2013 festival and displays the wide array of styles and subjects being explored by animators from around the world. The 85 minute program is shown in Beta SP, and contains material not suitable for children."

‘No Pants Subway Ride’ hits Boston on Sunday

no pants subway rideIf you plan on taking the T on Sunday, January 12th you may want to brace yourself. The 'No Pants Subway Ride' will be from 1:00pm-6:00pm and will meet in the Government Center area. 

The 'No Pants Subway Ride' started in 2002 in New York and has spiraled into a huge event that has been celebrated in over 50 cities.

BostonSOS is organizing Boston's 'No Pants Subway Ride' this year. Participants are required to wear full winter attire prior to the start of the event. At the meeting location, members will receive information on which train to take with a cab number. There will also be a buddy system implemented for safety.

Cambridge MLK Day of Service

MLK Day of ServiceThe 4th Annual Cambridge MLK Day of Service will be held on Monday, January 20th from 2:00pm-5:00pm. The Day of Service is a day to commemorate MLK by volunterring and providing goods to people in need.

The Many Helping Hands project "will touch the lives of thousands of people in need in Cambridge and Somerville." Volunteers for this service will be able to make fleece scares and blankets for homeless children, teens and adults and make activity kits for kids waiting in hospital emergency rooms. 

Participants can donate as much time as they like during this event. It is also noted that it is highly suggested to bring some type of donation, such as food or a children's book.

2014 New England International Auto Show

auto showOver 500 new vehicles will hit the display room at the 2014 New England International Auto Show. The event will be held from January 16th-20th at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center in the Seaport District.

"Domestic and international automakers are crating up their newest models, next year’s introductions and prototypes for delivery to the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center where more than 500 new vehicles will be on display at the 2014 New England International Auto Show, presented by Amica Insurance.

The New England International Auto Show, which is the largest new car display in New England, runs January 16-20. The five-day public event showcases the newest cars, trucks, hybrids, vans, crossovers and sport utilities on the market, and the hottest trends in the industry."
